Native birds

Native birds

New Zealand is known as the seabird capital of the world and is also home to a number of forest birds that live nowhere else on Earth. Here are a few photos of native New Zealand birds I’ve taken on tours.

Tūī are unique (endemic) to New Zealand and belong to the honeyeater family, which means they feed mainly on nectar from flowers of native plants. These attractive birds can often be heard singing their beautiful melodies long before they are spotted.
